Ewa Dina is taking on the role of Rachel Paulette McMurphy in English Theatre Frankfurt’s production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Derek Anderson directs and the show will run until 19th October.
McMurphy, fun-loving trickster with several assault convictions to her name, has once again gotten herself into trouble and is sentenced by the court. To escape labor duties in prison, she pleads insanity and is sent to a mental institution, assuming it will be a less restrictive environment. But tyrannical Head Nurse Ratched rules his psychiatric ward with an iron fist, keeping his patients cowed through abuse, medication and the threat of electric shock therapy. Her arrival disrupts his regime, especially after she decides to oppose his rules on behalf of her fellow inmates. The battle of wills between the rebellious McMurphy and the inflexible Ratched soon turns into an exuberant, ribald and devastatingly honest portrayal of the boundaries between sanity and madness.
